Insider Information ♥

Updated: Feb 19, 2021

Hello everyone and welcome to my first blog post! This is more of a 'general knowledge' post rather then my diabetic story. If you were looking for that chapter of my life then you can find my 'Pandemic Prognosis' article here. This page is just me sharing a bit more information on who I am, my lifestyle, hobbies and more.. I hope you enjoy!

Firstly, hello! I am Victoria, also known as Vixie on my socials. I am 25 years old and currently live in the beautiful county of Cornwall, England. I've lived here all my life and honestly couldn't imagine living anywhere else right now. Everywhere you turn there's a new area to explore; woodlands to stomp through, a coastline to be mesmerised by., Its just beautiful.

My favourite thing in the world is just being outside on some kind of adventure. Breathing in the fresh air while the sea breeze 'blows away the cobwebs'. - Clearing your mind and getting rid of those pesky feelings of tiredness. This can be quite lovely, especially on days where your feeling a bit down and in need of some TLC.

I am quite a creative person and for a while I had a Youtube channel called 'Vixie Beauty'. (Hence my Blog name - I wanted the two to be linked). I love messing around with makeup and just generally experimenting with colours, camera angles, lighting.. you name it! I am hoping to start filming for this again later on in this year once me and my partner have properly moved in and settled into our new flat. There's still a ton of work to do as we've had to completely gut it and start from scratch.. Its safe to say its still a work in progress!

Before I was diagnosed as a diabetic I was an extremely active person. In fact, when I was diagnosed I was the healthiest I'd ever been! I'd work out three times a week minimum alongside practicing my pole fitness and sticking to a balanced diet. Since being diagnosed I have struggled in this area. I am only just now starting to ease back into exercise due to the erratic-ness of my blood sugars. Now that they are a little more settled it means that I have been able to gently get back into what I love, which has made me very happy!

Generally I am quite a positive person but my mental health did take a bit of a knock during the first Covid-19 lockdown last year. I was working from home in a super stressful job and couldn't get that work/life balance. Then towards the end of summer I had my very sudden and VERY messy diagnosis. But despite all that, here I am, 5 months later and I am the happiest I've ever been! Everything just seems to be falling into place.

After being diagnosed I knew that I wanted to share my story. I wanted to do something creative that not only embraces my new lifestyle, but has the potential to help others like me. After all, I had a really rocky start! If my stories and experiences can support someone, or even if it just helps them to share a smile when they've needed it most; it will all be worth it, I also hope that this experience will connect me with readers who are willing to share their stories with me too! As difficult as being a diabetic can be at times, I do find it all quite fascinating. It changes so many lives everyday and every story is SO different! So here I am, sharing my stories with anyone and everyone who's willing to listen.

I hope that you've enjoyed my first post and please don't be afraid to say hi!

Victoria ♥
